The short version
These are practical tendencies—not wind or snow-load ratings. The exact frame package and installation determine real structural performance.
Look beyond the silhouette
Shape matters, but steel diameter and gauge, bow spacing, purlins, trusses, bracing, ground stakes, end walls, plastic tension and anchoring all work together. Diameter is the tube’s outside width; for comparable steel tubing, a lower gauge number means a thicker wall. A well-braced Rounded structure can outperform a lightly built peaked one.
Site conditions still matter. Snowfall, wind exposure, soil and installation can change the right configuration. A roof profile alone is never a structural guarantee.
Choose for the way you grow
Start with Rounded. It balances permanent construction, flexibility and price for beds, greens, herbs and general garden use.
Start with Gothic. Its peaked roof sheds snow more readily, while tall sidewalls provide better trellising and edge access.
Start with Caterpillar. It covers productive growing area economically and is more practical to relocate.
Prioritize ventilation. Choose a permanent style with easy roll-up sides, high vents or powered exhaust; roof shape alone will not prevent overheating.
